Gyatso is the owner of Blue Tent. He was born in Amdo, East Tibet. From the age of nine until the age of twenty, he was a monk in Labrang Monastery in Amdo, Gansu Province. In his twenties he lived in Lhasa where he worked for Doctors Without Borders (MSF), KunDe Foundation (of the U.K.), and Namchen Travel Service LTD. He first came to the United States in an environmental exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Government. He now lives in Santa Fe and can be found at:

He believes that rather than always asking for donations, it was better to form this small business. His goal is to support environmental education in Tibet. He also believes that the environmental issue is not the responsibility of only a certain kind of group or individual. It is more the responsibility of every sentient being, which is why he choose the Tibetan Ecology Foundation's motto as Protecting the planet one conscience at time.
