Training of Environmental Trainers
We want to create programming that
will educate those who are in a position to educate others, thus
exponentially increasing our efforts.
Our TOT programming, or Training of Trainers, is
based on the premise that education is key to environmental protection. We
can hardly expect a person to be an environmentalist without first educating
her about the environment. Likewise, we expect a person who understands the
concerns of our fragile ecosystem to feel a pang of care. We hope that
those who care will be environmentalists in their own lives.
Our TOT programs will focus on schoolteachers,
farmers, nomads, students, government staff, and the members of
monasteries. When we can train a leader within each of these communities,
that leader can go on to teach his or her followers. Hence, our message
spreads quickly.
This is an area where we need more than
merely money to accomplish our goals. We need volunteers to begin the task
of training others.
