Television, books, posters, and websites are the messengers of
contemporary people. We take for granted how quickly and easily we can
communicate with one another in this day and age. Some ancient
barriers still exist, however, and language is a large one. Many
beautiful and important books are not translated into the Tibetan language.
Tibetan people have very little access to detailed information about Earth’s
ecosystem. Furthermore, media production is not as common or as easy
in Tibet as it is in other countries. If someone has a message,
finding the means to tell it to the world is difficult.
The Tibetan
Ecology Foundation will work to overcome the language barrier. An
important task we set for ourselves is the translation: of books from
Chinese and English into Tibetan. Furthermore, we will produce short
films and programming to broadcast on the Tibetan TV Center, "Qinhai TV."
Finally, we will produce audio-visual presentations in the Tibetan language,
which can be shown to many audiences. Already we have this website,
tibetanecology.org, with its Tibetan language pages.
